The Internal Force Fitness “Daily 10” is a modern presentation of a vintage Latvian exercise program. As always, I have tidied things up a bit, expanded on the exercises, and generally given it a ‘modern’ touch.

I picked this routine to add to our collection because some of the exercises are just a little bit different to those you might see elsewhere – and the more varieties of exercises you know, the better your ultimate routine will be.

This is an excellent little routine to complete when time is tight, or as a warm-up for more strenuous exercise (or just as a warm-up for the day ahead!).

• Breathe in AND out through the nose if possible.
• Don’t go too hard too soon.
• Enjoy it!

Putting Routines Like Daily 10 Together

Just in case you thought putting these booklets together was easy, take I look at what I started with on this one:

And how I present that first exercise in the booklet:

EXERCISE NO. 1

STARTING POSITION: Basic stance, hands behind head, elbows back (image 1).

EXECUTION: On the count of 1, 2, 3, 4, while inhaling, slowly rise on tiptoes; raise your hands to the sides with palms facing upwards, slightly tilt your head backwards (image 2); on 1, 2, 3, 4, while exhaling, drop down to full feet, put your hands behind the head (image 1).

EFFECT: Strengthening of the respiratory organs, arm and leg muscles, as well as increased blood circulation.

A variation of this very same exercise is the first exercise in the 1937 booklet “Daily Dozen for Boys and Men” (also available for download at our shop) AND was a favorite of a certain Mr Charles Atlas – you know, he of the ‘Make a Man out of Mac’ fame. It is always good to just start the day with a good stretch.

When it says ‘on the count of’ all that it really means is try and time your movements to a slow count in your head. You’re in the starting position at ONE and the finish position at FOUR.

Repeat half a dozen or so times.
